Old Fort Parker S.H.P. is conveniently located between Groesbeck and Mexia, one mile off Highway 14 on Park Road 35. The park is situated some forty miles east of Waco and only one and a half hours south of Dallas. The fort is open daily. An admission fee is charged.
Nearby Fort Parker State Park has facilities for camping, picnicking, and other outdoor activities, including water sports on the park's lake. The Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historical Park is located several miles north of Old Fort Parker, along the Navasota River. In addition to several historical attractions, the park has many opportunities for nature study. In addition, Lake Limestone, Lake Mexia, and the Fort Parker Cemetery are all within twenty minutes of the park.
